Replace the File

First thing to keep in mind, is that, the vast majority of DLL errors, occur because of the existence of corrupted, invalid or obsolete files. So it’s advisable, that you ensure, none of such files exist on your system. To do that, you will need to verify that there are no pending Windows updates. You can do this, by doing the following:

1. First, boot into your system, as an administrator.

2. Then press windows key + R, type ms-settings:windowsupdate and click on OK.

Note: For older versions of Windows, type wuapp if the run command above fails to execute Windows Update.

3. When the Windows Update menu screen appears, simple click on the Check for updates button. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install any and all pending updates.

If the error continues to persists, after running Windows Update, then another legitimate method you can use, to successfully fix msvcp71.dll errors, is the replacement of the file itself.

In many cases, msvcp71.dll errors are directly linked to the file itself, as previously stated. If this is the case in your situation, then you can solve the problem, by replacing the file. To do that, follow the instructions below:

1. First, ensure you’ve booted into Windows, as an administrator.

2. Once in Windows, press windows key + R, type C:\Windows\System32 and click on OK.

3. When the System32 folder loads up, locate the msvcp71.dll on your system, and rename it to msvcp71BACKUP.dll.

4. Then download the msvcp71.zip file, from the following link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/eyertwn2ip69ktf/msvcp71.zip/file

5. Once you have successfully downloaded the msvcp71.zip file to your computer. Double-click on it, then click on Extract to.

Note: Depending on the file utility program you have installed on your system, this process will vary. Ultimately, it’s recommended you use either WinZip or WinRAR, for this process.

6. An applet titled Extraction path and options should appear. Type C:\Windows\System32 into the Destination Path, then click on OK.

7. Lastly press windows key + R, type cmd and click on OK.

8. When Command Prompt loads up, type the following command below and press Enter.

regsvr32 msvcp71.dll

9. Now you can try running or installing the problematic application.

In most cases, this should fix the msvcp71.dll error. However, if it does not. There are additional measures that you can take below.

Install Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003

There are a number of end users who have come face to face with msvcp71.dll errors that were able to fix the problem, by installing Microsoft Visual Studio on their systems. Visual Studio .NET 2003 is the latest iteration of the program that contains the msvcp71.dll file.

4. Once complete, restart your computer, and then verify whether or not it has fixed the problem.
